Microsoft Exchange Server
Microsoft Exchange Server
Microsoft Exchange Server is used to centrally store and manage emails, contacts, appointments, task lists, and other elements. The Microsoft Groupware and Email Transport Server software ensures that multiple users can manage the data together, simplifying collaboration with companies or smaller work groups.
Microsoft Exchange Server features
Microsoft Exchange Server is more than a simple e-mail system. It is a comprehensive groupware solution with an enormous range of services. Microsoft Exchange manages:
- Appointments & calendar
- Contacts & addresses
- And more
In addition, an intelligent anti-spam filter as well as global acceptance and denial lists are integrated. The e-mail retrieval runs via POP3 / IMAP4, the delivery via SMTP. Via ActiveSync technology you can access your e-mails. In addition, you have access to the Microsoft Exchange Server functions online via Outlook on the Web (formerly Outlook Web App).
Different versions and Exchange Server CALs
We offer you the Standard edition of Microsoft Exchange Server 2016 or 2013 in our software shop. The latest version comes without Client Access Server (CAS), which functions are transferred from the mailbox servers. The same applies to the Hub transport. Another new feature of the 2016 release is the easier creation and maintenance of database availability groups (DAG).
In addition to our software solutions, we offer you access licenses in the form of user-defined user CALs as well as device-bound device CALs for both Exchange Server Standard products. The licenses are available in a pack of 10 and are an essential prerequisite for the use.
The right infrastructure for Microsoft Exchange
A Microsoft Windows Server software is required to use Microsoft Exchange Server. Therefore, the software is used especially in infrastructures dominated by Microsoft products. For use as a desktop application, the use of Microsoft Outlook as client software is recommended. Either use your existing software from the Office package or buy Outlook and Microsoft Exchange Server directly.
To run Exchange Server 2016 or 2013, domain controllers must be running Windows Server 2008 R2 or later. In addition, the following minimum requirements must be met:
- Processor: Computer with an Intel processor based on the x64 architecture, which supports the Intel 64 architecture (Intel EM64T) or AMD processor, which supports the AMD64 platform
- Memory: at least 8 GB (mailbox) or 4 GB (client access)
- Disk space: at least 30 GB on the Exchange-Installation drive
